Case Studies
Africori
http://www.africori.co.za/Cytrus embraced Africori's concept - to be a world class digital platform that is a one-stop-shop for global music supervisors who need original, pre-cleared music from Africa - and made it a reality. Within three months of their first meeting, the site was launched.
Attempts to develop the Africori site had been abandoned after an enormous financial investment and eighteen months of fruitless effort with a company that was unable to deliver the goods.
"The team at Cytrus is second to none. They are responsive, dedicated, passionate and inspiring. I wish I had met them many years ago," says Yoel Kenan, Africori founder.
"From the first meeting you get a real sense of what Cytrus Is all about. They are straight to the point and they understand all your requirements. Cytrus helps find the best solutions and most importantly, they help anticipate future problems so that the process can run smoothly." he says.
Cytrus not only conceived the Africori concept but also created and implemented the following:
Design
Using the Africori logo and logo colours, Cytrus created the design concept and implemented all design on the site.
The Tracks
Cytrus has added around 1300 MP3 music tracks to www.africori.co.za so far. These are a smaller version of the WAV file of the recording for sale. WAV files and meta data (i.e. artists, names of songs and genres) that Africori had supplied were then added.
Cytrus moved the WAV files from Africori to Rackspace's distributed cloud computing servers. Rackspace has multiple servers with an enormous amount of storage space in different locations around the world.
This makes distributed cloud computing beneficial in many ways. It is inexpensive, offers unlimited storage space, ensures speedy music delivery worldwide via a Content Delivery Network (CDN) and provides external distribution management which allows Cytrus to focus on the site and Africori on the musicians.
Listen to, Buy and Sell Music
Site visitors can use the highly customized search to type in exactly what they require, e.g. country of artist, keyword, genre and tempo. Results are returned fast and users can easily download and listen to MP3s to make their selection.
The site provides a step-by-step online licensing process for musicians who choose how they want their music used, e.g. as a snippet, entire song or only for movies.
www.africori.co.za has made the process of music sales transparent for artists who can use their personal log-in on www.africori.co.za at any time and view how their music is being used.
What's more, Africori's artists receive a 50% share in profits earned through their music via their contract with the company.
